What is Cold pressed or Chekku oil?
Oil extracted by a traditional methodology without using any harsh chemicals or petroleum solvents (Hexane), preserving the essential nutrients, flavor, aroma and the natural properties of the oil bearing material in its original form.No chemicals, no refining but just pure healthy oil as intended by the Mother Nature.
What is Refined oil ?
“Refining of Oil“ does not mean cleansing of the naturally extracted oil, rather it is cleansing of the harsh chemicals, that was added as part of extraction process. Addition of harsh chemicals and heat enables to extract more oil from the seeds but at the cost of compromising the essential nutrients and health benefits.
Through intensive mechanical, thermal and chemical processes, oil is extracted from the seed. Oil bearing seeds are ground, steam cooked, then mixed with the solvent (typically of a petroleum base,Hexane) which dissolves out the oils. Later, the chemical is separated from the oil by means of refining. This method is universally used by the big commercial oil processors because the process is quicker and cheaper compromising on the quality. The refined oil is not considered edible without further processing, such as filtration, deodorization, bleaching, hence the name “Refine” to remove the added non-edible chemicals during the extraction process.
Why Cold pressed oil
Oil is an essential ingredient in our every day life. Oil extracted from the oil bearing seeds without altering its stature and retaining its state as it was in the seed is known as Cold Pressed oil or Chekku oil. Preserving the natural state of the oil ensures that we consume what Mother Nature intended for us – a healthy nutrient.
