Teacher’s Day
Teacher’s Day
Teacher’s day has been celebrated annually since September 5, 1962.
It is a great opportunity for us to spend a day and thank the ones who taught us the value of life.
Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan’s birthday is celebrated as Teacher’s Day in India. He was an outstanding teacher and a staunch believer of education and was known for his contribution to the India Education system.
He was one of the most learned minds and strongly believed that, “Teachers should be the best minds in the Country”.
When some of his students requested to allow them to celebrate his birthday ‘5th September’, Dr.Radhakrishnan said, “Instead of celebrating it as my birthday, it would be my proud privilege if September 5 is observed as Teachers’ day”.
Since then 5th September is observed as Teachers Day throughout India.
Guru Purnima
Guru Purnima is a tradition dedicated to the spiritual and academic gurus according to Karma yoga.
It is celebrated as a festival inIndia, Nepal and Bhutan by the Hindus, Jains and Buddhists. This is a day to honour their teachers and express their gratitude. The festival is celebrated on the full moon day (Purnima) in the Hindu month of Ashadha. It is also known as Vyasa Purnima which marks the birthday of Ved Vyasa.
